GUWAHATI: The Directorate of Vigilance And Anti-Corruption, Assam (DVAC) apprehended a person on bribery charges in Goalpara, today on May 10.

In an operation today, Sahar Ali Sikdar, Block Development Officer (In-charge) of Matia Development Block in Goalpara district, was caught red-handed in his office premises while allegedly accepting a bribe from a complainant.

The bribe was allegedly solicited by Sikdar in exchange for expediting the payment of pending bills. The officials intervened and caught Sikdar in the act of accepting the illegal payment.
The individual has been taken into custody. Further details are awaited.
