GUWAHATI: Gyanendra Pratap Singh is to be the next Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam.
In a tweet shared by GP Singh himself, he writes, “With the blessings of Maa Kamakhya, I look forward to the opportunity of serving the people of Assam. Gratitude to the Honourable Chief minister Assam for reposing trust in me to lead the glorious Assam Police. @assampolice @CMOfficeAssam.”

The present DGP, Assam, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta will be retiring on January 31, 2023, after serving the office for a tenure of three years.
GP Singh is from the 1991 batch IPS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre. He is currently serving as the special DGP of Assam and was previously in the Special Protection Group (SPG).
