One was penalised ₹2,000 for stocking building materials on the roadside in Jalukbari, while the other was fined ₹10,000 for discharging toilet water directly into drains in Jyotinagar.
“Violate rules, pay the penalty,” GMC took to X to address the situation.
This follows a series of prior fines GMC had levied on several individuals and establishments throughout the previous year. A resident of G.S. Road was earlier fined ₹10,000 for dumping Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste on the roadside as well.
Another crackdown occurred on December 3, when the body levied fines on two residents in Machkhowa and GMCH Road for creating unhygienic conditions by discarding waste in their localities.
GMC’s efforts to deter activities that disrupt public hygiene and safety is likely to continue throughout this year.
