GUWAHATI: A visit to the iconic Umananda Island was marred by the sight of garbage strewn across the area. Despite the convenience of online ferry ticket booking and the charm of the ride itself, the island's poor waste management has become a major concern.

A tourist shared on social media, “The ferry ride was enjoyable, but walking around the island revealed terrible sights of garbage everywhere. Who is responsible for this mess?”

Efforts by GPlus to seek clarity on the issue were met with frustration, as several departments claimed the matter did not fall within their jurisdiction.
