Gauhati University Introduces Digital Grievance Redressal System For Examination Issues

GUWAHATI: Gauhati University has launched a new digital grievance redressal system to streamline the resolution of examination-related issues, eliminating the need for students to visit the Controller of Examinations' office in person. This was stated in a notice released by the university on Saturday, March 29.

The new initiative has been taken to make the process faster, more efficient, and student-friendly, as dedicated email IDs have been introduced to handle grievances. Undergraduate students can now send their concerns to grievance_UG_exam@gauhati.ac.in, while postgraduate students can use grievance_PG_exam@gauhati.ac.in.

However, the university has maintained that complaints will only be considered valid if endorsed by the Principal of the student’s affiliated college or the Head of the concerned University teaching department. A scanned copy of the endorsement must also be attached to the email.

As per the notification, routine examination-related grievances will also be resolved within 72 working hours, with students receiving email updates on the status of their complaints. If a student’s presence is required, they will be informed accordingly. In cases where a student cannot attend in person, they have been instructed to authorise a representative, preferably a legal guardian, to act on their behalf.

To assist students in navigating the new system, a Help Desk will additionally be operational daily from 2 PM to 5 PM. Dedicated personnel will be available to guide students on submitting grievances correctly, ensuring that applications are complete and ready for processing.

With over 300 affiliated colleges under its jurisdiction, this move has been implemented to ease the administrative burden on both students and University officials.
