Foundation Stones To Be Laid For 400 New School Buildings In Assam

GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet has announced a series of decisions aimed at bolstering the education infrastructure across the state.

It involves laying the foundation stones for 400 new school buildings, with a unique focus on fostering education in tea garden areas. The foundation stones for these new school buildings are scheduled to be laid between December 25, 2023, and January 7, 2024.

An allocation of ₹7 crore is set aside for the renovation of existing school buildings. This investment aims to revamp and revitalise older school structures.

Additionally, all cabinet ministers will spend five days and five nights in specific villages during the stated period. The selected villages will represent five distinct zones within Assam.

This unique endeavour is designed to allow ministers to gain first-hand experience in the practical implementation of welfare schemes. They will also assess the level of achievement and saturation of these schemes within the chosen communities.

Of particular significance is the allocation of 100 new school buildings specifically for tea garden areas. These regions often face unique educational challenges.
