Essential drugs to become cheaper

As a move towards a novel development which is aimed at providing relief to common man from the monopolistic medicine industry, the State Government has decided to make the availability of 2,420 types of essential drugs easier and cheaper. The essential drugs include costly and life saving drugs for treating diseases like cancer and cardiovascular complications. State Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the easy availability of drugs prior to signing of an MoU with HLL Life Care Limited, on Thursday. Commenting upon the occasion, Sarma said, “The HLL Life Care Limited will make available company drugs round-the-clock at all the six medical hospitals initially through Amrit Pharmacies (medical stores) and subsequently, we will replicate the same facilities in all the district hospitals and other medical centres.” “Affordable medicine and reliable implants is what we intend to provide to the people living at the mercy of private players,” Sarma added.
