GUWAHATI: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a significant update on the cyclonic storm 'Hamoon,' causing concern in the region has now significantly weakened and transformed into a Deep Depression over southeast Bangladesh and adjacent Mizoram as of the latest advisory released on October 25.

The cyclone which was earlier expected to bring in thunderstorms and heavy rainfall over Assam and Northeast India has now lessened over the due course of time.

The IMD report suggests that 'Hamoon' is now anticipated to move northeastwards, further weakening into a depression within the next six hours. Subsequently, during the following six hours, it is expected to diminish even further into a well-marked low-pressure area.

This news brings relief to areas on high alert due to the earlier threat of 'Hamoon.' As the cyclone weakens, the immediate danger subsides, lessening the risk of severe weather conditions and the potential for damage to life and property. Rainfall and showers are still expected in the parts of Assam and Northeast India.
