Based on a survey done by an independent NGO, Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) across 534 Lok Sabha constituencies, the performance of the government has been ranked as “below average.”
The “below average” score is defined as a score that is less than 3 on a scale of 5. The present government listed as ‘below average’ on all 31 voters’ priorities including better employment opportunities, better healthcare and drinking water.
This survey was conducted between October and December of 2018 and covered 2.73 lakh voters who were spread among various demographics. The three main objectives that this survey covered included (i) voters' priorities on specific governance issues, (ii) voters' ratings of the government's performance on those issues, and (iii) factors affecting voting behaviour.
According to the finsings of the survey, Indian voters proioritize employment and basic amenities (like healthcare, drinking water and better roads etc) above governance issues like terrorism and strong defence/military.
Better employment opportunities (46.80 per cent), better healthcare (34.60 per cent) and drinking water (30.50 per cent) were ranked as the top three voters' priorities at the all-India level, followed by better roads (28.34 per cent) and better public transport (27.35 per cent) as the fourth and fifth requirements.
