GUWAHATI: The Assam State Zoo Cum Botanical Garden will feature a Jurassic Theme Park, complete with lifelike, moving dinosaur statues that promise to transport guests back millions of years.

This transformation was announced on Wednesday, January 1, by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The complete revamp of the Assam State Zoo will come at an estimated cost of ₹362.04 crore.
Alongside the prehistoric attraction, a geodesic dome aviary will host an array of bird species along with a children's park for young visitors.
The modernised zoo will also feature a state-of-the-art animal hospital, specialised enclosures for mega carnivores, reptiles, and exotic species. Breeding centres for endangered animals and innovative glass-view enclosures, allowing visitors to interact with animals while ensuring their safety.
The project also aims to incorporates rainwater harvesting, sustainable landscaping, and the integration of green energy technologies.
There will also be automated entry and exit systems, a multi-purpose entrance block with food courts and escalators, hiking trails and QR-coded information.
The Assam State zoo will also feature disabled-friendly infrastructure, ramps, and wheelchair access along with an emergency SOS system.
