GUWAHATI: Launching an attack on opposition party Congress, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal blamed the party for spreading rumours and misleading the general public on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
“For some time now, in order to derail the peaceful environment of the state, Congress and other parties have been spreading false information. Lies have been spread that lakhs of foreigners will be brought to Assam. Forget 1 crore 90 lakh, not a single foreigner will be allowed till this government is in power. Our government will not do anything that goes against the people of this state,” said Sarbananda Sonowal.
