GUWAHATI: Childline Guwahati, a support centre for child protection and child rights has recorded a total of 640 cases in 2018 because of its 24-hour helpline.
According to a statement, each month roughly saw around 50 cases per month, most of which were rescue or protection from abuse cases. Some other type of cases reported included restoration cases, missing cases, shelter-related cases, ESG case, medical-related cases etc.
NirmalDeka, Official, Childline Guwahati said that the number of reported cases had increased by 10% last year and it was only possible because of the increasing rate of mass awareness. He also said that this increase occurred because of a job well done by media organisations because of which more people are now aware of the childline.

Earlier, the Railway Childline of Guwahati had rescued and assisted more than 288 cases in 2018.
