Centre to Run Dry Vaccination Drive of COVID-19 in Assam

GUWAHATI: Assam has been selected among four other states where the Centre has planned to run a dry COVID-19 vaccination drive ahead of the mass rollout.

Assam, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat are the four states where the two-day dry run of vaccination for Covid-19 will begin from today.

The planned vaccination drive of the government is likely to be kicked off in January 2021.

The dry run has been designed to take stock of the readiness of the mechanism laid out for the actual COVID-19 vaccination drive.

The union health ministry said the exercise will include necessary data entry in Co-WIN, an online platform for monitoring of vaccine delivery, testing receipt and allocation, deployment of team members, mock drill of session sites with test beneficiaries.

National Health Mission Director, Lakshmanan S, talking to G Plus said that there are two districts that have been selected for the project, which are Nalbari and Sonitpur.

"We are looking forward to vaccinate 25 people in each session," added Lakshmanan.

The process will involve utilizing the pre-requisites needed for vaccination.
