GUWAHATI: The water level of the Brahmaputra in Guwahati crossed the danger mark on Monday morning, June 20. The water level currently stands at 49.95 metres as of 10 AM today. The danger mark for Guwahati is set at 49.68 metres.

This is a 12 cm rise in water level from 6 PM yesterday to 6 AM today.

The last time the water level crossed the danger mark in Guwahati was during the 2020 floods. The Central Water Commission (CWC)  officials say the last time Brahmaputra crossed the High Flow level of 51.46 was in 2004. High Flow Level is the highest water level recorded so far in Guwahati (51.46 mm) which lies beyond the danger mark (49.68mm).

However, officials say it cannot be predicted if the water level will rise even further in the upcoming days if it rains heavily in other parts of Assam.
