GUWAHATI: Passengers travelling by ASTC buses will soon receive tickets from electronic ticketing machines or ETMs. This hand-held device will be used in the counters and by the conductors. The present manual tickets will be phased out once the ETMs come in force.
The ETMs will be connected to the ASTC server.
The whole idea is to centralise the ticket collection and know in real-time how much has been collected through ticket sales. Also, this process will help plug revenue leakage, said Anand Prakash Tiwari, Managing Director, Assam State Transport Corporation.
