GUWAHATI: Indian shuttler Ashmita Chaliha from Assam stunned World No. 10 Beiwen Zhang to enter the Malaysia Masters 2024 quarter-finals. Chaliha beat Zhang 2-1 in a tight game to advance to the next round. Ashmita Chaliha defeated world rank 10, Beiwen Zhang, in the Malaysia Masters by a margin of 21-19, 16-21, 21-12.

Chaliha reached the round of 16 with a straight 21-17 21-16 win over qualifier Sih Yun Lin of Chinese Taipei earlier.
