GUWAHATI: The murder of a Gaon Panchayat Secretary in Assam’s Bongaigaon was planned by the wife of the deceased and her sister, the Assam Police has said.

Taking to X, Assam DGP GP Singh said on June 30 that six persons, including the wife, have been arrested in connection with the recent murder of GP Secretary Chandra Das in Bongaingaon.
Additionally, the vehicles, including motorcycles and the weapons used in the crime have been recovered. The investigations and the arrests were made by the Bongaigaon police.
It may be mentioned that on June 26, armed assailants shot and killed Das, while he was returning home from work. As per reports, on his way home, Das had stopped his car at a tea stall in Kashidoba village. The miscreants arrived on a two-wheeler, stopped before him and fired from point-blank range killing him on the spot.
