IMD Forecasts Heavy Rainfall In Assam

 

GUWAHATI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive weather forecast and warning for Assam, predicting significant rainfall and thunderstorms across the state over the coming days. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati has detailed expectations of moderate to extremely heavy rainfall, with specific warnings for various districts from July 1 to July 4, 2024.

Weather Forecast for Assam: 

July 1:

•    Moderate Rainfall: Expected at most locations across Assam.
•    Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall: Isolated areas in Nalbari and West Karbi Anglong are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.
•    Light to Moderate Rainfall: Forecast for most areas, with isolated heavy rain likely in Dhubri, Goalpara, Bongaigaon, Golaghat, Biswanath, Tinsukia, and Dima Hasao.
•    Thunderstorms and Lightning: Predicted for Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Barpeta, Bajali, Tamulpur, Kamrup Rural, Darrang, Udalguri, Morigaon, West Karbi Anglong, Sonitpur, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Cachar, Hailakandi, and Karimganj. Thunderstorms with lightning are also expected in isolated places in South Salmara, Kamrup Metropolitan, Majuli, and Charaideo districts.

July 2:

•    Moderate Rainfall: Expected across most parts of the state.
•    Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall: Isolated heavy to very heavy rain is forecasted for Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Karbi Anglong, and Dima Hasao districts.
•    Thunderstorms and Lightning: Heavy rain combined with thunderstorms is likely in Darrang, Sonitpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Cachar, Hailakandi, and Karimganj. Isolated thunderstorms with lightning are expected in Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, and Golaghat.

July 3:

•    Moderate Rainfall: Predicted for most areas of Assam.
•    Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall: Isolated heavy to very heavy rain is likely in Dhubri, Goalpara, Kokrajhar, Chirang, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia districts.
•    Thunderstorms and Lightning: Expected with isolated heavy rain in Nalbari, Kamrup Rural, Biswanath, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Dima Hasao, and Cachar. Isolated thunderstorms with lightning are also predicted in Hailakandi and Karimganj.

July 4:

•    Moderate Rainfall: Anticipated across most parts of the state.

•    Thunderstorms and Lightning: Forecasted with isolated heavy rain in Nalbari, Kamrup Rural, Morigaon, Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, and Sonitpur.
