Assam Floods: Over 100 Forest Camps Affected In Kaziranga Due To Rising Water Levels 

 

GUWAHATI: The recent surge in water levels due to incessant rains in Assam has severely affected Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve. Over 100 of the 233 forest camps have been submerged, causing widespread disruption in the park. 

An official report by Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve Flood report indicates that 24 animals have been rescued so far, and four animals dying due to the flood.

In the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, out of a total of 165 camps, several specific areas have been heavily affected: 

* Agratoli: 34 camps 

* Kaziranga: 58 camps 

* Bagori: 39 camps 

* Burhapahar: 25 camps 

* Bokakhat: 9 camps 

As of July 2, a staggering 131 camps in the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division have been inundated, with water levels reaching up to five feet. 

In the Biswanath Wildlife Division, out of 30 camps, 22 have been flooded. Meanwhile, in the Nagaon Wildlife Division, 14 out of 38 camps have been submerged.
