AHSEC Postpones Exams Due To Severe Flooding In Assam

GUWAHATI: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has announced the suspension of the State Open School (SOS) higher secondary level examination, scheduled to commence on Wednesday, July 3, due to severe flooding across the state. The notification comes as most rivers in Assam are flowing above the danger mark, causing widespread inundation and disruption.

In an official statement on Tuesday, AHSEC highlighted the pressing need to prioritise safety and avoid any risks associated with the ongoing floods in multiple districts. Consequently, all institutions under AHSEC have been instructed to postpone the examinations until further notice.

Institutions designated as examination centres for the SOS higher secondary level examinations are directed to inform their associated institutions and learners about the suspension. AHSEC has assured that the exams will be rescheduled once the floodwaters recede and conditions stabilise.

The council will communicate the new examination dates to all relevant parties in due course. In addition to postponing the exams, AHSEC has issued guidelines for the safe custody of examination materials.
