Assam Police launches Cyberdome and Digital Intelligence Centre in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal recently launched the Assam Police Cyberdome and Digital Intelligence and Training and Analysis Centre (DITAC) in Kahilipara, Guwahati.

Cyberdome is a high-tech centre for cyber security and innovation to effectively tackle all forms of cyber crimes and offences. It will also help the investigating officers to move forward and unearth vital information regarding cyber criminals and crimes using the latest technology.

Cyberdome will aid cyber investigation, cyber intelligence and cyber forensics. Cyberdome is an initiative to to give the citizens a better delivery of services which are citizen centric.

Speaking on the occasion, Sarbananda Sonowal announced that the technology will be gradually transferred to all the districts for sharing of information in real time.

"This is an important day for the Assam police and for the people of Assam. We live in a world of science and technology and there are forces who want to destroy the social fabric of our community using social media and other tools. To put an end to hate and bring peace and harmony among the different communities of the state we are enabling the Assam Police with this technology,” said Sonowal.

“Modern technology should be used to build friendship, and harmony. Technology should be used to spread positive energies in the society. This project is close to the heart of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has spoken about Smart Police.  We are trying to make this possible for Assam Police. With this launch we have become the second state to have such technology after Haryana,” said Sonowal.

"We are now aware that technology has two sides, a good side, and a bad side. The recent happenings in Karbi Anglong are examples of how technology is being used for misdeeds. For the misuse of technology, we need to be aware and alert. For this we have many included many things in the Cyberdome. A long due requirement of Assam Police has been now fulfilled by the Cyberdome," said Kuladhar Saikia, DGP, Assam.

Additional DGP (Special Branch) Pallab Bhattacharya said that launching of Cyberdome is a big boost for the Assam Police officials to effectively tackle cyber crime.

Cyberdome will help in monitoring social media and curb all sorts of cyber crimes in all districts of Assam. The Special Branch has trained a police officer from each district, and they will work as master trainers for Cybercrime Vigilance.
