Assam Govt urges Centre to seal Indo-Bangladesh border

The Assam Government has urged the Centre to seal Indo-Bangladesh border under the supervision of the Army. Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday said, “Our honest aim is to seal the borders between Assam and Bangladesh as soon as possible, to prevent illegal immigartion within the State.” Sonowal further said that he wants the sealing of the borders to be accomplished under the supervision and guidance of Indian Army. As described by Sonowal, the quality of the current fencing is not that good and to prevent the illegal immigration, better quality of fencing should be used. While addressing the media, on the occasion of 100 days of BJP Government in Assam, Sonowal said that one of the significant motives of BJP Government in is to eradicate corruption, which he and his ministers are working towards. Lashing the failures of the Congress Government during the past 15 years, Sonowal said, “People's lives were crippled under corruption during the last Government. Our thrust has been to give people relief from it. Our ministers are not only talking against corruption but are acting against this menace.” Hitting out at the Congress Government on the economic front, Sonowal said that the BJP government has inherited a debt of around Rs 17,000 from the predecessor Government, which are leading to problems for the current Government.
