In a statement issued today, Debang Saurabh Gogoi, the Information and Broadcasting Editor of the Raijor Dal, emphasised the urgency of the situation, characterising it as the "last battle for survival" for the people of Assam. He condemned the arbitrary implementation of the CAA despite prolonged protests and the sacrifice of five youths.
The implementation of the CAA, according to Gogoi, poses a significant threat to the interests of the people of Assam, aiming to marginalise the “Khilonjiya” community and erode the linguistic and cultural identity of the state. He warned that the law would potentially grant citizenship to Hindu Bangladeshis, leading to an influx of foreigners into Assam and relegating its indigenous population to second-class citizenship status.

Drawing attention to the plight of neighbouring Tripura, Gogoi highlighted the disastrous consequences of similar policies. In light of these concerns, Gogoi urged the people of Assam to set aside political differences and unite in peaceful protests against the CAA, emphasising the need for a collective effort to safeguard the interests of the state and its people.
