Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed this on his X handle following the state cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, March 4.
Under the new guidelines, unemployed graduate and diploma engineers from Assam will be registered under a special category and will be exempted from the minimum criteria for contractor registration. They will also be allowed to bid for projects individually, provided they meet 35% of the requisite net worth requirements. Those unable to meet this criterion can form joint ventures with financial partners.
In a related development, the cabinet also approved measures to promote bamboo-based composite materials in the construction sector.
