AJYCP demands Rs 10,000 cr for flood hit

The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Monday gave hint of a massive agitation alleging Centre’s indifference towards Assam where lakhs of people have been reeling under flood that has claimed nearly 40 people. In a statement issued here, AJYCP president Biraj Kumar Talukdar said that the recent stock taking visit of Union home minister Rajnath Singh has failed to heal the wounds of the marooned people whose hopes have been washed away. He said that the recent visit has once again suggested Centre’s utter negligence for the north eastern state. “Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh did not announced a single paise even after his aerial survey. Much to our dismay, the BJP-led government has not so far made any demand before the Union minister. Doesn’t it suggest lack of interest on the issue?,” said the AJYCP president.   “Instead of making aerial surveys at the cost of the state exchequer, the minister should come out with Rs 10,000 crore immediately to provide some sort succor to the flood-hit people,” said Talukdar. He further informed that AJYCP activists in district and regional levels have been joining the relief and rescue operation in the worst-hit areas where lakhs of people have been evacuated.
