GUWAHATI: SpiceFresh, a subsidiary of SpiceJet has launched an air freight, air cargo service from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport on 31 December. Two flights carrying 1000 kgs of mandarin fruits for export flew to Hong Kong and Dubai.
Industries and Commerce minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary said that he hoped that the mandarins produced in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh will brighten the future for these states in terms of exporting agri-horti produce from northeastern states.
Authorities from SpiceJet said that its flights will go to Hong Kong with 18 tonnes of freight between Guwahati and Kolkata daily, while both the Hong Kong and Dubai routes will be connected via the company’s international network.
State Industries and Commerce department’s Additional Chief Secretary, Ravi Capoor, Commisioner and Secretary, Ashutosh Agnihotri, Commisioner, Puru Gupta, Managing Director of the Assam Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC), Ghanashyam dass were present at the event among other dignitaries. This event was jointly organized by the State Industries and Commerce department, Airports Authority of India (AAI) and AAI Cargo, Logistics and Allied Services Company Limited.
