GUWAHATI: Nine people have died after drinking alcohol-based hand sanitiser in Prakasam District, of Andhra Pradesh after they failed to procure alcohol.
The incident happened in Kurichedu town where one person died late on Wednesday night and two others died on July 30. 6 others also succumbed on Friday morning due to the same.

Reportedly, as liquor shops in towns and surrounding villages were closed for the last 10 days due to lockdown, these persons had consumed alcohol based sanitiser which is meant for hand hygiene.
