GUWAHATI: A total of 21 tea gardens have been sold in the state of Assam in a span of a year, as revealed by the Labour Welfare Minister Sanjay Kishan.
According to the minister, the Badlapara Tea Garden in the Udalguri district, the Belisi Tea Garden, the Shingri Tea Garden, the Barjuli Tea Garden, the Ghairali Tea Garden, the Dhalapadung Tea Garden, and the Checha Tea Garden in the Sonitpur district have all been sold.
Four other tea gardens in the Charaideo district have also sold out. Badlaveta, Sukanguri, Shilikha, Hapjan, Pengri, Deuhal, Duwamara, Hatimara, and Tara tea gardens in the Tinsukia district, on the other hand, have been sold.
The minister also stated that the Assam Tea Corporation is in the process of leasing out 12 gardens.
