Youths of Guwahati celebrate Bihu with inmates of Old Age Home

There is no festival as emotional and happy as Bihu for the people of Assam. But for few unfortunate ones, who spend their days in loneliness and dejection, hardly any festival is an occasion of joy.

Amidst Bhogali Bihu fervour that has gripped the entire state, students of Guwahati College and J.B Law College have celebrated Magh Bihu with the inmates of 'Amar Ghar' a city based old age home.

The youths brought home made 'laru-pitha' and 'doi-sira' and shared it with the elderly residents. The residents who are living away from their family, have celebrated the festival this year with these young students of the city, and they seemed to have loved the time spent.

The team who initiated the progam, while speaking to G Plus said, "We did this to bring some amount of happiness to those elderly people, and also to get blessings from them as a holy month has begun. It's a team effort and we appreciate the contribution of everyone who has been  a part of the team. We will keep taking such initiatives in future too."

Some of the team members who played a major role in the whole initiative are - Avinash Das, Jupari Kashyap, Pranjal Bezbaruah, Manab Jyoti Das, Rubul Ahmed, Pooja Bezbaruah, Himangshu Das, Sanjit Das, Jintu Kashyap, Isha Das, Raktim and Dipankar.
