GUWAHATI: The wreckage of a World War II era US Air Force aircraft was found in the Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh by a patrol team on April 4, according to a Defence spokesman.
A PTI report stated that some local trekkers told the police that personnel of the Spear Corps found out about the wreckage buried under five feet of snow in a remote area, approximately 30 kilometers away from the district headquarter town, Roing.
The patrol team collected a few items of the 1941 aircraft disturbing the wreckage. The team covered 30 kilometers of thick jungle and snow-covered areas in eight days to trace the wreckage on March 30.
It should be noted that wreckages of WW II era have been found in Arunachal Pradesh before this incident as well.
