Gadkari said the ropeway will bring down the travelling time on the 1.43 km route from 45 minutes to five minutes and will be a big help to the visitors. Besides, the ropeway will also be a pollution-free mode of travel and help to decongest roads.

The minister also announced that work for the Rs 15000 crore Numaligarh-Gohpur tunnel under the Brahmaputra will be awarded by July. The 12.5 kilometre twin tube tunnel will be constructed 40 metres underwater. On completion, the travel time between the two points will come down from six hours to 25 minutes.

Among others who participated in the session were Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterway Sarbananda Sonowal and Union Minister of Railways, I&B and Electronic Ashwini Vaishnaw.
