GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident a Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sivasagar SadarPolice Station was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a young woman who was brought to the Police Station for interrogation in connection with a different case on Friday, December 30, 2022, as per police sources.
According to sources, the Sub-inspector at the Sivasagar Police Station was appointed as the enquiry officer for a different case involving the woman when the police official reportedly sexually assaulted her in the early hours of Friday, December 30, 2022, inside the premises of the Police Station.
The Sub-inspector, identified as Ripjyoti Doley was arrested on Sunday, January 1 based on the complaint filed by the victim at Sivasagar Police Station. SI Ripjyoti Doley was sent to custody after being produced before the Judicial Magistrate.
Speaking exclusively to G Plus on the incident, Subhrajyoti Bora, Superintendent of Police, Sivasagar Police Station said, “The incident took place in the early hours of Friday, December 30, 2022, at around 1 AM.” Subhrajyoti Bora further informed G Plus, “A case has been registered against Sub-inspector Ripjyoti Doley on Sunday, January 1 and SI is out on bail right now.”
However, the Superintendent of Police, Sivasagar while speaking to G Plus, maintained, “Even though the sub-inspector has got bail in the case, still the case is not over yet and the investigation is going on.”
