Will Reconsider My Decision of Retirement: Samujjal Bhattacharya

GUWAHATI: All Assam Students' Union (AASU) Adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya said that he will reconsider his decision of retirement after thousands of AASU workers demanded that he continue his stint with the student body.

“It’s an emotional decision of my life….as I said I will continue to work for AASU and people of Assam till my last breath,” Bhattacharya said after a video of the AASU summit went viral on social media wherein thousands of workers could be seen chanting slogans in favour of Bhattacharya.


Talking on the sidelines, Bhattacharya said that after his retirement from the student body he will continue to lead the economic struggle for the people across the length and breadth of Assam.


“There is a lot of economic disparity and hardships are faced by the people in different parts of the state. My aim will be to remove all these problems starting from Kamrup to Cachar district,” Bhattacharya said on the sidelines of an important AASU summit at Duliajan, where he is likely to announce his retirement from the influential student body.


Talking on various aspects, Bhattacharya in a very changed tone and tenor said that till the last breath of his life he will work for the people of Assam and AASU remaining outside the purview of politics.


“I will remain non-political,” he said.
