Wildlife Trafficking Racket Busted In Assam's Nagaon; Tiger Parts & Elephant Tusk Seized

GUWAHATI: A joint operation conducted by the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, Nagaon Territorial Division, and Nagaon Police on January 29 led to the seizure of tiger claws, tiger canines, tiger bones, and an elephant tusk in the Kathiatoli area.

Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case namely, Amar Hansey from Karbi Anglong, Mahendra Borgrang from Nagaon, and Probin Sangma from Karbi Anglong. The seized items indicate a possible link to organised wildlife trafficking networks operating in the region.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to uncover the source of the contraband and the potential buyers. The accused are likely to face charges under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, which imposes strict penalties for the trade of endangered animal parts.

Further inquiries are ongoing, and investigations are underway.
