Unidentified man threatens to kill city resident in broad daylight

Paltan Bazar police station on Thursday registered an FIR against an unidentified man for threatening to kill a city resident after they got into a verbal altercation on the road.

A 25-year-old city resident filed an FIR after he was threatened by a person riding in a White Scorpio on Thursday morning.

Ashish Pratim Borah, who works with an NGO in the city, said that the incident occurred around 10 am when he was on his way to work.

“I was travelling to work on my motorbike and I take the same route everyday. I was trying to cross the road under the Ulubari flyover to go towards DGP office and the Scorpio was coming from GS road side,” said Borah.

He added that even though his bike’s indicator was on, the car did not let him pass and kept coming closer and even slightly hit his rear tyre on purpose.

“I asked the driver to back off a little and let me pass first s it would only take a few seconds. But the driver did not listen and got down from the car and started threatening me. He said that he had gun with him and threatened to pull it out.”

However, the man’s co-passengers prevented him from doing anything further. Borah managed to memorise the car’s registration number and gave it to the police.

“I am rather shocked to see human life has no value in front of a few people who think they have all the money and muscles and can rule the world”—wrote Borah on his Facebook profile recounting the incident.

The police, on the other hand, have said that it will take some time for them to identify the accused and that they are looking into the matter.
