ULFA denies involvement in Tinsukia gunfire incident

GUWAHATI: The United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) ULFA (I) has denied its involvement in the killing of five men in Assam's Tinsukia district on Thursday.

In a written statement, ULFA (I) has denied any involvement in the killing of five men on Thursday (November 1).

"We, United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) would like to make it clear to all concerned authorities that our organisation does not have any involvement in the firing incident that occurred on November 1 at Sadiya Saikhowaghat in Tinsukia district," the militant outfit said in the statement.

At least five persons were killed and one injured in a gunfire incident in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the All Bengali Youth Students federation has called for a 12-hour shutdown in the district.
