GUWAHATI: In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-job scam, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has summoned two more police officers to appear before the Crime Investigation Department (CID) office on Thursday morning.
The two summoned officers, identified as APS officers Rituraj Doley and Nitumoni Das, both of whom are currently under suspension, presented themselves at the CID office earlier today.
Both officers are implicated in the scandal, with allegations that their examination marks were fraudulently increased by the prime accused, Rakesh Paul.
Nitumoni Das, formerly serving as the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Bongaigaon, was placed under suspension pending the investigation. On the other hand, Rituraj Doley is currently serving as ASP in Goalpara.
The cash-for-job scam has sent shockwaves through the state, as it is revealed that six individuals, including high-ranking officials, have been arrested in connection with the fraudulent activities.
The scandal revolves around allegations of bribery and manipulation of examination results within the APSC.
Rakesh Paul, identified as the prime accused in the scam, is alleged to have orchestrated a scheme where candidates paid hefty sums in exchange for favourable results.
It is alleged that he played a vital role in increasing the marks of various candidates, compromising the integrity of the recruitment process.
