GUWAHATI: A police team from Matia Police Station in Assam's Goalpara district seized 5,000 bottles of Codeine Phosphate Syrup during an early morning operation on Sunday, May 4. The truck carrying the contraband was intercepted around 3 AM, and one person has been arrested in connection with the case.

The accused, identified as Zahidul Ali, 26, was taken into custody at the scene. The intercepted truck was reportedly being used to transport the syrup illegally, though further details on the route and intended destination are yet to be disclosed.
The Goalpara Police confirmed the seizure on their official X handle.
Earlier, Guwahati Police recovered 50 cartons of cough syrup from a bus at ISBT, under the jurisdiction of Gorchuk Police Station.
