GUWAHATI: Jeep Safari services at Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve will be suspended from May 19. The decision has been taken owing to deteriorating road conditions and unfavourable weather.

According to a general notice issued on May 3 by the Divisional Forest Officer at Bokakhat, the closure is in the best interest of visitors and staff. Every year, Kaziranga shuts down its tourist operations before the monsoon hits to ensure safety and prevent damage to the fragile ecosystem. This year, the decision follows anticipated weather changes and risks to accessibility across forest routes.
The affected zones include major safari points such as Kohora, Bagori, Agoratoli, and Burapahar ranges. The closure is expected to last through the monsoon season, though no specific reopening date has been given yet.
Tourism in Kaziranga usually peaks between November and April. With the official closure beginning mid-May, authorities have urged tour operators and travellers to plan accordingly and avoid last-minute inconvenience.
