GUWAHATI: The police apprehended two mobile snatchers who snatched a phone and escaped on a two-wheeler in the Lalmati area of the city on November 2.
The team from Basistha Police Station under East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) team arrested the duo identified as Hasan Ali aged 28 hailing from Gossaigaon, and Ayush Islam aged 26 from Sijubari Mazar.
According to reports, the arrests followed a mobile phone snatching incident in the Lalmati area, where the suspects fled the scene on a scooter heading towards Beltola. The stolen mobile phone was recovered, and the scooter used in the crime was seized.
The investigation is ongoing to ascertain further details.
Guwahati Police took to Facebook to put out, “An EGPD team from Basistha PS arrested 2 mobile snatchers - Hasan Ali (28) of Gossaigaon and Ayush Islam (26) of Sijubari Mazar - after they snatched one mobile phone at Lalmati & ran off in a scooter (AS13 F 4217) towards Beltola. The stolen phone was recovered & the scooter was seized. Further probe is on.”
