GUWAHATI: In a recent operation conducted by the Assam Police, two drug peddlers were arrested and 2.5 kilograms of heroin were seized on Sunday night.
The Karimganj Police, who were actively combating the drug menace in the district, intercepted a vehicle originating from Mizoram and discovered a substantial quantity of heroin.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Ahad Uddin and Maqbul Hussain. Their connection to the seizure of heroin has been established, and they are now in police custody.
In recognition of the International Day against Drug Abuse, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma commended the police for their significant seizure.
Via Twitter, he expressed his appreciation, stating, "@karimganjpolice intercepted a vehicle coming from a neighbouring state at Ishancherra and seized 200 soap cases containing 2.5 kg of Heroin. Also apprehended two accused. Great efforts @assampolice. Much appreciate."

Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh also emphasised the commitment of Assam Police to combat drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking within the state and tweeted, "Gratitude for the kind words Sir.
