GUWAHATI: In anticipation of the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches scheduled at the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Stadium in Barsapara on March 26 and 30, 2025, city authorities have imposed traffic regulations to ensure public safety and smooth movement of vehicles.
The restrictions, aimed at safeguarding vulnerable road users and facilitating the passage of emergency vehicles, will be enforced from 2 PM to midnight on match days. Key roads, including G.S. Road, A.K. Azad Road, M.G. Road, and A.T. Road, will see limited access for commercial goods carriers and slow-moving vehicles.
Significant changes include the conversion of A.K. Azad Road into a one-way route from Lalganesh Tiniali to Cycle Factory Tiniali from 3 PM onwards. Vehicles without car passes will face diversions at Lalganesh Tiniali towards Kahilipara Road. Similarly, Kula Basumatary Road will operate as a one-way stretch from Barsapara Tiniali to Dhirenpara Tiniali.
From 4.30 PM onwards, only vehicles with official car passes will be allowed on certain routes, with designated drop-off points at Barsapara Tiniali and Dhirenpara Tiniali. Parking on key roads such as A.K. Azad Road and A.K. Dev Road will be restricted, with limited parallel parking permitted in specific areas.
The entry into the stadium will be regulated through six designated gates, with separate access for teams, VIPs, and general spectators. Authorities have assured that emergency vehicles, school buses, and local residents will not be affected by the restrictions.
These measures have been put in place to manage traffic congestion and enhance security for spectators attending the high-profile cricket matches. Authorities urge the public to plan their travel accordingly and adhere to the prescribed traffic guidelines.
