Tinsukia’s Baghjan Oil Field Faces Another Massive Blow-Out

GUWAHATI: Another explosion occurred at the Baghjan oil field in Tinsukia this afternoon and the site is still burning. 

NDRF and Air Force have been called for help.

Videos showing large black clouds of smoke could be seen doing rounds on various media after a massive fire took place on site after the blast today and further details are awaited.

Natural Gas has been uncontrollably leaking from the site since 27 May when the first blowout took place. 

A team of experts had arrived in Assam from Singapore on 7 June to bring the situation under control.

Earlier, in 2005, when a similar blowout took place at an abandoned oil well of Oil India Limited (OIL) at Dikom in Dibrugarh district, it took nearly a month to bring the situation under control.
