GUWAHATI: In a breakthrough discovery in the fight against drug trafficking, the Assam Police conducted two anti-narcotics operations on Thursday, May 2, resulting in the seizure of heroin worth ₹18 crore.

In the first operation, the Cachar Police recovered 572 grams of heroin and apprehended one suspect. The second operation, led by the Golaghat Police, led to the recovery of 3 kilograms of heroin, with four suspects taken into custody.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the efforts of the police teams and acknowledged their role in the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter).
