Timeless Rabindra Bhawan Of Guwahati To Be Demolished And Rebuilt

 

GUWAHATI: The historic Rabindra Bhawan in Guwahati's Ambari area, which has long served as a hub for all performing arts and has played host to many plays and culturally oriented events and programmes over the years, will be demolished and rebuilt.

According to reports, renovations have been ongoing for a while at Rabindra Bhawan and the state art gallery, on the premises of the famous Auditorium in Guwahati.

However, the State Government will rebuild the cultural center with renewed infrastructure, as per reports. Presently, Rabindra Bhawan has been closed to the general public. 

The Assam Government's cultural department will reportedly be undertaking to rebuild the auditorium and cultural center. 

Speaking to G Plus, a representative of Rabindra Bhawan's Cultural Affairs department, Surjyakanta Deka, said, “Earlier I had learnt that solely renovation work would be done on the existing Rabindra Bhawan and State Art Gallery located in the Bhawan’s premises but now there is news that the whole of the Cultural Center and auditorium would be torn down and rebuilt with the auditorium being closed to the Public.”
