GUWAHATI: Three boys, one adult and the other two minors, were apprehended by Bongaigaon police on Thursday, April 3, for allegedly being involved in the sexual harassment of a minor girl.

The incident took place in the Bidyapur Higher Secondary School of Basugaon at its rear premises, and has sparked outrage among the locals.
According to police, the accused entered the school during an ongoing admission process, as they took advantage of the open gates and the hubbub surrounding the place. The boys lured the girl away by falsely claiming her father had asked for her, and then committed the offense at the back of the school.
"Admission process was going on in the school and the three of them took advantage of that because everybody was busy,” the school principal said. “The gate of the school was open.”
The principal further noted that he was not present at the time of the incident, having traveled to the Inspector of Schools in Bongaigaon for official duties. The girl later reported the ordeal to him.
Further investigation is ongoing to ascertain the full details of the incident.
