Revealing this during a press conference after a cabinet meeting on Friday, April 4, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "In Barak Valley, Bengali will also be included. In BTAD, Bodo will be incorporated alongside Assamese and English."

This decision was taken after consultations with the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and aims to make governance more inclusive and accessible.

Whether it's a government order, office memorandum, or regulation, every official document will be bilingual. In multilingual regions, the dominant local language will also be included.

To ease the transition for government officials, an app called "Basini" will be launched. It will help departments translate documents and adapt to the new bilingual system effectively.
