Morigaon Man Arrested For Allegedly Sexually Assaulting Pet Dog Remanded To 14-Day Judicial Custody

 

GUWAHATI: A man from Morigaon, Assam, who was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a pet dog was remanded to judicial custody. The accused, identified as Narayan Das, was arrested on Monday, May 5. Das was produced before a court on Tuesday, May 6, and remanded to 14-day judicial custody.

Speaking to GPlus, a police official from Morigaon police station said, "Narayan Das, was arrested yesterday for allegedly sexually assaulting a pet dog and was produced before a court on Tuesday, May 6. He has been remanded to 14-day judicial custody."  

The footage allegedly shows Das removing a male dog from a room, luring the female Labrador inside, undressing, and proceeding to sexually assault her. The dog can be seen trying to escape and crying out, but the man continues the act. The case has sparked outrage among animal rights groups.

Earlier, an FIR was filed at Morigaon Police Station under Case No. 123/25. He has been booked under Sections 291 and 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 11(1)(a), 11(1)(e), and 11(1)(g) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

The complaint was jointly lodged by several animal welfare organisations, including Purrpaws Foundation, Aloo Foundation, Anaajoree, Animal Crime Control, and independent rescuers and activists.

Narayan Das is known locally as the owner of a restaurant, bar, and wine shop in Morigaon. Activists allege he has a history of serious allegations, including abuse and trafficking, but had previously evaded legal consequences.

The investigation is ongoing.
