Three Arrested For Providing Fake Railway Job In Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Based on a complaint, a team from Dispur Police along with the co-operation of Kokrajhar Police arrested three persons on Thursday, September 19 for allegedly providing a fake government appointment letter. 

According to reports, in an FIR lodged with Dispur police, the victim Swapna Gogoi stated that one identified as Deepakjyoti Saikia took an amount of Rs. 5.50 lakh from her in 2016.

However, unable to return the money, the latter assured the complainant that he would provide her with a 3rd-grade job at the Indian Railways.

Accordingly, the accused provided an appointment letter to the complainant, but when Gogoi went to join the service in Paltan Bazar railway station, she found out that the appointment letter was fake.

The complainant later asked the accused to return the money and the accused gave a cheque which bounced.

Meanwhile, police have apprehended Alok Sen (48), Pradip Kalita (42) who were sent to judicial custody on September 20. However, the main accused Deepjyoti Saikia of Hengrabari area will be produced before the court today, i.e. September 21.
