GUWAHATI: Tezpur University has gained a mention in the prestigious QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2024, landing in the 1001-1050 bracket for overall sustainability performance. The rankings, unveiled on December 5, assessed universities worldwide based on their capacity to address prominent environmental, social, and governance (ESG) challenges.
Nearly 1,400 universities were included in the rankings. Tezpur University achieved Rank 647 in the Environmental Impact category, Rank 681 in Environmental Sustainability, Rank 730 in Governance, and Rank 799 in Environmental Education.
Tezpur University's recognition extends to additional categories, such as Employability and Opportunities, Equality, Health and Well-being, Impact of Education, Knowledge Exchange, and Overall Performance for Social Impact.
Notably, Tezpur University, alongside the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, stands as a representative from Northeast India, both securing positions in the 1001-1050 bracket in the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2024.
QS, a leading higher education analytics firm, has long been recognised for its comprehensive portfolio of comparative college and university rankings. In 2022, responding to the escalating significance of sustainability in higher education and society, QS introduced the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability.
These sustainability rankings draw upon data gathered through surveys and external sources like the World Bank and the United Nations. Universities' rankings in this assessment are determined by the amalgamation of their scores in two pivotal categories: Environmental Impact and Social Impact.
